Apply, update, renew, and change code are different actions
Apply — 신규 발급
Use this when you do not have a Personal Customs Clearance Code.
A newly issued code is valid for one year from the issue date.
Update information — 정보변경
Use this when registered information such as your name, phone number, or address has changed.
Your existing PCCC continues to be used.
The validity period becomes one year from the date the information change is approved.
Renew — 유효기간 갱신
Use this when you are within the renewal window or have received an expiry-related notice.
The current renewal window is:
30 days before the expiry date through 30 days after the expiry date.
A renewal keeps the same code and extends validity to one year from the existing expiry date.
Do not assume the code is automatically cancelled exactly 30 days after expiry. Current rules allow KCS to cancel it after that point, but that is not the same as a guaranteed automatic cancellation event.
Change your code — 부호변경
Use this when you want the actual PCCC itself changed.
The current portal uses the user-facing term 부호변경.
The governing rule uses 재발급 for the legal action that ends the old code and issues a new one.
For readers, keep these concepts distinct:
- Update information = change registered information; same PCCC continues
- Change your code = replace the PCCC itself
- Reissue = legal term describing the replacement action that ends the old code and creates a new one
A changed/reissued code is valid for one year from the reissue date.
What if your PCCC was issued before 2026?
Do not use one blanket rule for every pre-2026 holder.
General pre-2026 holders
The transitional expiry is the holder’s birthday occurring in 2027.
Important foreigner exception
If a foreigner’s PCCC was issued using a passport, the transitional expiry is December 31, 2027.
Suspend and cancel are not the same thing
Suspend / Reactivate — 사용정지/해제
Use this when you want to stop the code temporarily.
Suspension does not reset the existing expiry date.
Cancel — 해지
Use this when you want the PCCC and its registered information ended rather than temporarily paused.
What if you suspect someone is misusing your PCCC?
Use the official 도용신고 route.
A rejected checkout or rejected PCCC does not by itself prove that the code was misused.
What if your PCCC is rejected?
Treat this as a troubleshooting branch, not a diagnosis of the exact cause.
Check:
- Status / expiry
- Registered name and phone information
- Delivery postal code
- Whether you recently renewed or updated information
- Whether the code itself was recently changed
- Portal action history, if relevant
KCS has strengthened verification for covered users by comparing the PCCC holder’s name, phone number, and delivery postal code.
Do not automatically label a rejection as expired, stolen, wrong owner, customs blocked, or checkout error.
If the reason is still unclear, use KCS official support.
What changed with one-time authentication in 2026?
KCS launched a new e-commerce customs platform on August 28, 2026 with a transaction-level one-time authentication-number system.
Current Research confirms that the flow applies to overseas purchases for:
- a renewed PCCC
- a PCCC newly issued after the launch
- a PCCC whose registered information was changed after the launch
Some KCS-recognized shopping sites with approved identity verification may allow buyers to skip separately entering the PCCC and one-time authentication number.
Do not extend that same rule to every action unless a current official source explicitly maps it.
Also do not confuse this one-time authentication number with the separately announced one-time Personal Customs Clearance Code beginning with O. They are not the same concept.
Foreigner-specific check
For foreign e-commerce importers, current KCS English guidance uses a Personal Customs Clearance Code for customs clearance.
A foreign registration number or passport number should not be treated as a current checkout substitute for the PCCC.
Foreigners can apply through official processes using qualifying identity documentation, including a foreign registration card or passport where allowed.
But do not assume one universal online authentication route works for every foreign resident.
If online authentication is unavailable, use the current customs portal or official customs support.

What this tool does not do
This tool does not:
- look up your actual PCCC
- verify code ownership
- predict customs-clearance success
- decide that a rejected code has one exact cause
- collect your real PCCC or identity-document numbers
- ask for OTP, password, phone number, or full address
- suggest using another person’s PCCC
- suggest false information
- bypass KCS eligibility or verification rules
Its job is narrower: your current state → current rule check → correct official action → official destination.
